St Mall. It was interesting how easy it was to find my way around the city. I also learnt that cars aren't allowed through Bourke St. Thankfully, we didn't have to do the Street Art component of the City Experience due to the weather. Instead, we went to the Australian Centre of the Moving Image (ACMI). We observed all different types of light-illusions, as well as the evolution of modern technology over the last 30-40 years. There was also a display of various video games such as PES9, Space Invaders and Pong. Then I took the tram home.
Third day: we didn't go to the city on the third day; I arrived at school like normal in casual clothes, but at 9.20 we had to meet at the theatrette. We had a martial arts master called David come in to show us the basics of self-defense. It was intriguing to hear some of his techniques. Next we went to the Strathmore Uniting Church to hear about the dangers of "sexting" from the Moonee Ponds police force. We watched a short film, and then the police officers answered questions about the topic. They stated that 95% of all their work stems from cyber bullying and sexting. This means that if these officers were working even 20 years ago, I don't think they would've had much to do. We had Domino's pizza for lunch, and then had group discussions about certain topics that concern teenage-hood.
It was great fun visiting the city and hopefully we go again next year.

year 9 experience!!! :)
DAY 1:
On the first day we had to be at Federation Square by 9am so we meet up with some and caught , first thing we did was the shrine which was interesting, we talked about world war. The second activity was going to visit a place called urban seed and it was about helping homeless people, it is actually important for homeless people cause it is a place where the some to eat.
DAY 2:
•On the second day we had to meet at Federation Square again and was a very rainy day but was a good day so then had to go to several important places and also about the note was street art.DAY 3:•Day 3: We had to go to a normal school day but we had casual clothes. We had to meet at the personal defence at period 1. We met a David(teacher persona defence) who had been doing marshal arts for 44 years and he had taught us basic defence moves. We then walked to the Uniting Church and we had been given a presentation by the police about send photos and Alcohol charges . Day 1: I start the day by catching the train into federation square but to catch the train I had to use a mykey card for the first time it was confusing at first but got the hang of it in the end. From federation square we went to the shrine of remembrance, I stayed quiet to respect the ones lost in war, I felt very respectful but the feeling is too hard to describe. In the shrine I was chosen to dress up as a WW1 soldier and tried to take it as serious as possible and I was honoured to wear the uniform. In the main room of the shrine we had a moment of silence to honour the lost soldiers. At the end of the tour of the shrine the man that gave us the tour offered me to become a young ambassador for the shrine I was honoured to be offered to become an ambassador for the shrine of rememberence. After the shrine we went to the Baptist church and learnt about homeless people and what urban seed do for the homeless like provide breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 2: start the day by catching the train to federation square. Then we started the scavenger hunt me, Joel, Ben and Jye, it was great fun we ran everywhere the challenges were relatively easy and I think it’s safe to say that we were all stuffed after sprinting around the city in search of all the locations. At one of the locations the was this lolly shop that me and Joel got massive lollypops from after those we were so hypo and had so much fun. After the scavenger hunt we had to go to ACMI because it was too wet in ACMI there was some interesting things like a dark room that projected light into smoke to create a visual effect.
Day 3: Today we didn’t meet in the city but instead we meet at school in casual dress to participate in a self-defence class, It was ok I suppose but it was funny when the instructor did a demonstration with me and I blocked all of his punches then he got serious because I was better than he thought I was. After the self-defence class we meet up with the girls at the uniting church hall to be spoken to by the police and we were shown a movie about sexting it was confronting but I’m glad that the police talked to us because now I actually know what I can and can’t do in society. Then Rory and other teachers talked to us about growing up and sexual stuff it was funny and we all had a laugh but we all took what we were talking about seriously and respected what the teachers were talking about.

Overall I enjoyed city experience very much, it was educational, but not in a boring way. I had fun trying to find my way around the city, trying to catch the right train and practising my deadly kicks ;) I believe that we should do this yearly- just with differences that related to what we were studying. Because travelling independently is a very good skill as far as I'm concerned. All in all, I had heaps of fun!
Hey Julia, its Kat... im just writing a comment for you. I'ts apparently needed in the criteria... Your blog was great! Really! It was funny, and it wasn't too long (like mine heehee) Great conclusion by the way, once again, shorter than mine... Oh actually no yours is longer... Am i supposed to compare them? Coment? I'm kind of just babling here... :) <3

2nd Day - On the second day we started off in the same place but this time we had to do a scavenger hunt, which required us to find our way around the ENTIRE city while it was a very cold day and it was raining but we still had a good time. In my group was Me, Ben, Will and Jye. And we did very well as a group and we found our way around the entire city by foot and not catching public transport once which was a very good effort. And we ended up coming second in the scavenger hunt so our group did well. And the second half of the day we went to ACMI (Australian Centre For The Moving Image) and it was all about different games/movies and all these different things which was interesting, and it was a very good way to end the day by spending it indoors out away from the cold and the rain.

3rd Day - This day was a very laid back day, we started off at the school meeting up with all the boys at the school for a self defense class, while the girls met up at the Strathmore Uniting Church, for their self defence class. We were also allowed to wear free dress on this day. In self defence we learnt how to protect yourself in a fight or a situation likewise to that. After that we made our way up to the Starthmore Hall, where we met up with the girls to learn about sharing photos on the internet, and all these other rules about things. Then we leaernt about some other things including sexual matters and bullying.
