Day 1: We all went to Shine of Remembrance to learn about The Great War and the role that Australia played in it. We watched a short film about the war and our tour guide showed us what they wore when in battle. Then he showed us around, and talked about everything that happened members of 9D1 shared their own personal experience, that some of their grandfathers were in WWI and WWII. It was a really great experience. Then we headed back to federation square for lunch, then after lunch we went to Urban Seed and met people that used to go to Strathmore Secondary Collage. She taught us about what is like to live on the streets and how the rich society treated the lower class society. After 15-20 minutes of talking in the church we went through the city of the higher class and the lower class. It was such great experience learning about what is out there. I have been to the city many times and I have never been down all the little streets and alleyways in my life it was so good to see all the little shops and art work along all the walls in the alleyways it was really great.

Day 2: the next day we all met at federation square, 9D1 was first up to go on the scavenger hunt. We got into groups and we were all given maps of the city, and a question and answer sheet, so we all headed off in our groups to find the places that we needed to find, when walking around the city even though we were trying to find particular places we were also taking in all the sites that we saw it was really good to take in. after 4 hours around the city we all headed back to federation square to meet up with the rest of 9D1 and 9D2 for lunch, after lunch 9D1 had planned to do a street art activity and 9D2 was meant to do the scavenger hunt but unfortunately it began to rain so we all headed up as a group to ACMI, once we got in there we all got some free time to go and see what is in there and just sit down and talk. The second day was pretty good but not as good as the first day but it was still a great experience.

Day3: On the last day all the girls met up the Strathmore Uniting Church and all the boys met up at school for a self-defence class. We learnt about safety and how to protect ourselves in a time of need. After that the Moonee Ponds Police came and spoke to all of us about safety as well, after that we had lunch and some free time, then we got into groups and learnt about acceptance of one another, difference between boys and girls, about gays and lesbians and a lot of people are treated at schools around the world. My favourite part about that day was the self-defence class even though we didn’t learn much about defending ourselves we learnt a lot on how to keep ourselves safe from any danger and to always trust our gut feeling.
